CDP provides automatic, real-time local backup and offsite storage of all productivity files through the SonicWALL Offsite Backup service. The service provides hands-free offsite backup and recovery of data to a secure remote data centre and serves as the cornerstone of an effective disaster recovery plan.

The solution backs up files first locally to ensure data can be recovered instantly from any previous point in time. It also includes hands-free, automatic offsite capabilities to protect businesses against disasters. Importantly, the CDP series of products back up only block level differences within each file, and then compresses them so the network is not impacted or compromised.

The CDP hardware device was developed specifically with the small-to-medium business in mind - there are no tapes or disks to manage and the appliance includes simple, centralised administration, CDP also allows any user on the network to retrieve every version of the file, not just the latest version. Using a simple administration interface, users can go back to any point in time - minutes, hours, days or more. Remote administration allows IT administrators to manage SonicWALL CDP, recover deleted files or view vital statistics from a remote location.

Bare metal recovery (BMR) software creates an exact image of an entire server or workstation, including operating system files, programs, databases and settings. By utilising this feature a complete system can be recovered in minutes and the BMR software includes local archiving capabilities that allow organisations to store snapshots of their data for extended periods of time.

The SonicWALL CDP model range caters for differing sizes of business and data storage as each of the 4 models has an increasingly higher back up capacity ranging from 192Gb to 1.2Terrabytes when utilised with full compression.
