Our Story

IT has come a long way since 1986, and so have we. Back in the day we focussed on Novell networks and accounting solutions but more than 35 years later, Hampshire Business Computers is going strong, delivering complete IT solutions with efficiency and effectiveness to a variety of clients; some of whom have been with us from the start.

In the 1990s, we switched our focus to Microsoft Windows and grew our client base from accounting to include education, healthcare and corporate business. As we expanded our services, security and connectivity became increasingly important. Along came “The Internet”, dial-up connections were commercially available in 1992 and by the end of the century, Broadband was introduced.

During this time, Hampshire Business Computers quickly realised that Wide Area Networks would undergo a revolution. The Management Team made the decision to change direction and specialise in network security, servers and Corporate IT Infrastructure. Within a short time, HBC had new experts onboard and were gaining many new customers through word of mouth.

Along our journey…

• 2000, we acquired the networking division of Symtec in Southampton, including their Engineers.
• 2001, we relocated from Basingstoke to Romsey.
• 2013, we acquired Networking Fundamentals (NeFU Ltd) in Andover, including their staff.
• 2017, we acquired Flair 4 IT Ltd in Bristol, including their staff and kept on the offices in Clifton.
• 2017, awarded the DATTO EMEA Partner of the Year.
• 2020, we renamed Flair 4 IT Ltd to Clifton IT Ltd.
• 2021, we became an Employee Ownership Trust
• 2023, Kieron Doyle retired from both Hampshire Business Computers Limited and Clifton IT.

Our virtual IT department incorporates helpdesk, installation work and scheduled visits and is a large part of our business today and for our future. We are also qualified to carry out Cyber Essentials certification, protecting your devices and the services you access.
